About

Denton Town Twinning Association is a voluntary organisation made up of local residents, students, teachers, community leaders and businesspeople. The aim is to cultivate educational, cultural and economic links between Denton and its French and German twin towns.

Since being established in 1992, the Association has cultivated hundreds of links between local residents, schools, community and sporting groups and local businesses.

The Association is entirely self funded and relies on generous contributions and fundraising to support its activities.

Below is some information about our activities and Denton's two twin towns.

The Association has facilitated and organised hundreds of sporting and educational exchanges.

Dozens of local schools, community groups, sports clubs and music groups have taken part in exchanges. These exchanges mean that like minded people hundreds of miles apart can collaborate and learn together.

Some recent examples include St John Fisher Primary School, Denton Brass Band and Denton Girls Junior Football Club.

The Association helps groups finance their trips through advice on fundraising and through small grants.

The Association takes every opportunity it can to shout about the fantastic links Denton enjoys.

Through organising European Artisan Markets through to large European festivals, we are always eager to tell the wider community about what opportunities are available to them.

Some recent examples include the 2016 Denton EuroFest, Summer Artisan Markets and French Language Brunches.

Just like Denton, Kierspe and Montigny are brimming with culture and history.

Like everything with twinning, we like to do things together, whether that's through organising historical tours of our towns, putting on exhibitions detailing our shared histories and cultures or taking part in each other's events.

Some recent examples include the Denton Carnival, the Montigny Fete de la Ville and the Kierspe Stadtfest.
